C-PP Hall of Fame to eight new members
Corning – Eight new members will be inducted into the Corning-Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame at the 45th Annual Induction Dinner to be held Saturday, March 9th at the Corning Museum of Glass auditorrium.
The Hall will add two members each for football and track/cross country and four others from volleyball, lacrosse. Softball and a contributor.
Football will be represented by Alex Hamilton and Clarence Onyiriuka. Hamilton was a key member of the only Corning East football team to win the state title in 2006. He played fullback on offense and anchored the defense from his linebacker position. Onyiriuka capped his high school career gaining over 1,300 yards as a senior for the 2007 Corning West team. During a four year career at the University of Rochester, he finished with 3,279 rushing yards which was third best in school history.
Stephen Rossettie and Doug Benjamin made their marks known in track/cross country years apart. Rossettie was a four-year member of the Corning East cross country team and was an All-American in the 2K steeplechase event. He was also a member of the Princeton University track team. Benjamin graduated from Northside High School in 1963 and was a three-sport star for the Tigers. He holds the record for the high jump and also was a standout in the hurdles and long jump along with a part of the record-setting 4X100 relay team. He also starred in football and basketball.
For over the past 25 years, Pat Osborn has been contributing to the success of the local youth bowling programs as a coach and organizer. She also serves as the secretary for a number of senior bowling leagues and has been doing that for over 25 years as well. She will enter the Hall of Fame in the contributor category.
From the softball diamond, the Hall will welcome Quincy Lewis who starred for the Corning West softball team for six years, beginning her varsity career in the seventh grade. As a senior pitcher, she was named to the New York State, First-Team. Won a school record 63 games as a pitcher before taking her skills to Long Island-Post University where she led the East Coast Conference in saves as a freshman. Qunicy finished her collegiate career at Shippensburg University.
Kaitlin Burke follows a long list of Corning West volleyball players into the Hall of Fame. She was a Bacalles Award winner and helped the Vikings to the Class AA championship as a senior. Her four-year career at Keuka College was capped by being named the team’s most outstanding player as a senior.
Joseph ‘Joey’ DiLaura was a three-sport athlete in the mid 1980’s for Corning East but was a standout three-year varsity starter for the Trojans lacrosse team at both midfield and attack. Following his 1986 graduation from East, DiLaura took his talents to Cortland State where he started for four years. His college career was capped by earning the prestigious ‘Red Letter’ award as the Red Dragons most outstanding lacrosse player.
During the evening. Four senior student-athletes will be presented with the George Bacalles Memorial Award. These awards are selected by a panel of all the coaches in the Corning-Painted School District and honored by the Board of Directors of the Hall of Fame. This year’s Bacalles winners are Lindsey Butler, Cleo Baker, Adam Zingler and Derik Lisi.
The Board of Directors will also present the Bob Box Memorial Award and the Frank Watts Memorial Award to two deserving members of the community.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour which will be followed by dinner with all the festivities and induction ceremony to conclude the evening. Tickets for the event are $35 per adult and $10 for children 14 years old and younger.

All tickets are sold on a reservation basis only and may be picked up at the door the night of the dinner. There will no tickets sold at the door the night of the dinner. Deadline for purchasing tickets is March 3rd.
