ROGER ACKERMAN JR.

Football - 2006

ROGER ACKERMAN JR. graduated from Corning West High School in 1980 and was a standout member of the football, basketball and baseball teams. But, it was football that proved to be Roger's strongest sport. In his junior season, he was named to the All-STC, First Team and then as a senior he was named to the same team as the quarterback when he served as the team captain. He was named the MVP in West's winning effort against East Rochester in the 1979 Section 5 Championship game. It was the first Sectional title for the Vikings football team. That was as far as they could go then as there was no state tournament for football. Following his graduation from West High, Roger went to Princeton University where he was the starting wide-receiver on the Freshman team. Note that freshmen were not allowed to play varsity sports in the Ivy League in 1980. He was also the starting tight end for the Princeton varsity football team for the 1981 and 1982 seasons. Roger received his Bachelor of Science Marketing and Finance degree with honors from the University of New Hampshire in 1994. He currently lives in Durham, New Hampshire with his wife Sarah and two daughters, Kelsey and Taylor.
