PATRICK BARNES coached wrestling for 30 years, including 13 seasons in the Corning School District. He just recently retired from the mats in 2006. During his career, Pat recorded 215 wins, including a 70491 record at Corning. He directed the Hawks to four STAC West Division crowns in 2002,2004,2005 and 2006. His teams also captured ten team tournament titles and Pat was named the Section IV, Class A Coach of the Year. He coached a second place finisher in the NYS Tournament in 2002 and a third place wrestler in the 1998 state tournament. Pat also coached three Section IV Individual Champions and 16 Section IV, Class A Champions. He also had 21 wrestlers named 'Outstanding Wrestler' of various tournaments. During his career, Pat was named among Outstanding Athletes in America in 1972; Metro (Elmira) Male Coach of the Year in 1988; was inducted into the Elmira Free Academy Hall of Fame in 1996. He joins a number of his former wrestlers in the CPP Sports Hall of Fame.
