Football - 2011

COREY COLYER graduated from Corning East High School in 1990. He played football for the Trojans and finished his career as one of their very best linemen ever. Following his outstanding senior season, Corey was named to the All-Twin Tiers First Team, the All Division II First Team and capped it off by being named to the All New York State , First Team - one of only a few linemen in the history of the school to be so honored. As a junior, Corey was honorable mention for All-Twin Tiers and Second Team-All Division. His All-State selection as a senior was a result of a lot of hard work. Following graduation, Corey took his talents to Taylor University in Indiana where he played football for two seasons before a knee injury ended his playing career. After getting hurt in his sophomore season, he stayed with the team serving as an assistant coach during his junior year.  He graduated from Taylor in 1995 and then went on to receive his Masters Degree in Sociology from Western Michigan University and his PhD from Syracuse University. He is currently a professor of Sociology at West Virginia University.
