Lacrosse - 1999
Jeff Cole graduated from Corning East High after a three-year career as a starter on the varsity lacrosse team. Following his junior and senior seasons, Jeff was named to the Southern Tier Lacrosse League first team. During the summer between his junior and senior season, Jeff was named to the Empire State Games and served as a captain for the Western team. Jeff started for the squad that earned a bronze medal during the games. As a close defenseman, Jeff's assignment was usually the opponent's highest scoring attackman. It was a job he relished and did very well. He was a key performer as the Trojans made their first, of what would be many, appearances in the New York State Class B championship game. Jeff earned a scholarship to Hofstra University and opened the door to a number of Corning East players who would eventually play lacrosse for the Flying Dutchmen. While at Hofstra, Jeff was a four-year starter, serving as captain of the team during his senior year when they were ranked in the top six of the NCAA playoffs. He capped his brilliant collegiate career with an alternate berth for the prestigious North-South game for seniors.
