Nick Cavallaro (Tyrone) was a member of the Corning East baseball team in the late 60s graduating in 1969 after an outstanding three-year career...named All-Steuben County as a junior and senior and All-STC following his senior season.- played a key role in 1968 when East won their first-ever baseball STC title with three grand slam homers in first five games while hitting .486 and leading the Trojans in RBI's...his brightest moments for the Trojans came in the drive for the sectional crown during 1969...Nick hit the game-winning homer against Hornell to win league crown then went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI's in quarter-final victory over John Marshall (Rochester's top city league team) Section IV, "A" final, East shut out Geneva, 1-0 with Nick's RBI single one of only two Trojan hits...hit over .400 while batting clean-up for two years of American Legion with Canny's Trucking team that featured C-PP Hall of Famers Gary Waksmunski, Bob Diliberto, Lou Congdon and Gordy Costa...played pro baseball with Quebec in Canadian League (comparable to Class A League) for one season (hitting over .350) before a rotator cuff injury ended his baseball career—went on to become one of the most feared Softball hitters in the area.
