BOBBY DOWNING

Bobby Downing joined the adult leagues in the Corning Men's Bowling Association in 1987 and has made a striking impression. Literally including action in the current season, he has rolled 20 sanctioned 300 games along with five 299s and three 298s. He has also rolled seven scores of 800 or better with a career best of 824. Bobby was named to the All-City, First-Team the first ten years he was eligible. During those ten years, he led the city in high average six times, including a city record 230.25. Six times Bobby has been a member of the scratch team winner in the city tournament and was the singles champion in 1997 with a 767 series. In 1989 he became the first one to roll a 300 game and 800 series in the city tournament. Bobby has also competed in five ABC National tournaments with a 205.7 average in 45 games. He is the only bowler in the Coming association to bowl back-to-back 300 games. He also holds a share of the three-man game record and five times has been a member of a five-man that set a new series record. Eleven years ago today Bobby was inducted into the Corning Junior Bowling Hall of Fame. He's come full circle.
