Basketball - 1997

Chuck Dana graduated from Corning West in 1973 following perhaps one of the most successful senior seasons ever by an individual Viking basketball player. A two-year starter or West, Chuck really blossomed into a superb player in his senior year. He averaged over 15 points a game as a junior but that proved to be only a stage setter for what was to come. As a senior, Chuck led a West team that was just a bit lean on talent and carried them to the sectionals on the strength of a 22.2 per game scoring average. And along the way, he garnered nearly every award a player could accumulate. He was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the STC and was named the Player of the Year while leading West to the Steuben County Championship. Chuck was also named as the MVP of the Crystal City Classic Tournament. He led the Viking into the sectionals where they lost in the quarter finals to Pittsford and following that tournament, he was named to the Section V All-Star first team by the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. Chuck also played lacrosse and football for the Vikings. He went to Dartmouth College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts hi Economics and is currently the Vice-President of Finance for Owens-Corning in Toledo, Ohio where he lives with his wife and two children.
