Basketball - 2002

Cori Drummond graduated from Corning West High School in 1995 and was one of the best all-around players ever to don the green and white for the Vikings. Cori began her career on the West varsity basketball team as an 8"-grader playing the guard position. As a freshman and sophomore, she played guard and forward and finished her career playing both forward and center during her junior and senior seasons.

During her five seasons, that included 112 games, Cori scored 1,590 points for a career scoring average of 14.2 points per game. She also hit the boards at the rate of 9.4 rebounds per contest in her five seasons. As a junior and senior she averaged just a shade over 19 points per game.

Cori capped her career as a senior with a number of honors, but none more prestigious than being named as the New York State Class B Player of the Year and a member of the State, First Team All Star. She was also named the Twin Tiers Female Athlete of the Year, MVP of the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament and MVP of the Class B Federation Tournament. Cori was also named to the All-Sullivan Trail First Team as a sophomore, junior and senior and named All-Leader, First Team all three seasons. She was the All-Sullivan MVP as a junior and senior along with being the region MVP as a junior.

As a member of the Adirondack basketball team in the Empire Games, Cori and her team won the gold medal in the open division. Earlier in her high school career, she captured a bronze Empire Games medal in the high school division.

Cori went on to play division one basketball with a scholarship to Siena College. She enjoyed a very successful collegiate career scoring 848 points in her four years on the team. While at Siena, Cori was named as the winner of the Vicki Armondo Award for Excellence in Academics and Athletics her final three years while also being named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. As a senior Cori was named the MAAC Scholar Athlete of the Year for the highest GPA in New York State.
