Bowling - 2012


For the past 25 years, Alan Farr has been one of the top bowlers in the Corning Bowling Association. Prior to his career in the local bowling leagues, Alan led his Corning Community College team to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Regional Tournament, finishing behind Division I Penn St. in 1979, the same year he was a NJCAA All-American. Since 1990 Alan has averaged between 207 and 232 and one of only a handful of Corning bowlers to finish a season with a 230 average or better. He has rolled 22 perfect games, including two this season and has 18 scores of 800 or better. His best effort is an 866 series on game of 269, 300 and 297 which still stands as the Corning city record. Alan was named to the All-City team ten times including six berths on the First-Team. He has been a league champion over 15 times and has six city tournament titles to his credit. He currently lives in Horseheads where he is partner in a bowling pro shop and in his spare time, Alan is a volunteer assistant coach for the Horseheads High School bowling team.
