ALAN GOLKIEWICZ

Golf - 2009

ALAN GOLKIEWICZ is a 1975 graduate of Corning East High School. He was a four-year starter on the East High golf team and has been one of the finest golfers in the area ever since his graduation. Alan is a three-time club champion at Indian Hills, having secured the title in 1982,1983 and 2001. He also captured the Best Ball championship at Corning Country Club in 1985 and theTioga Country Club Championship in 1998. He’s a two-time Corning Glass Works champion and has also captured championships in the Walt McGill tournament, Joe Smith Memorial tournament, the Bonady Classic and the Wayne Kenner Memorial tournament. Alan got his first hole in one at the age of 18 at Indian Hills and has recorded four others over the course of his career. Not a long hitter, Alan has thrived on the golf course with his medium iron and short game play. He is also one of the best putters in the area, earning the nickname "One-Putt Al". Currently Alan lives with his family in the Corning area, and he still gives golfing tips to his son Brian who is playing on the Division I, Binghamton University golf team.
