Softball - 1997
Susan Allowatt Goodrich graduated from Corning West in 1986 after a four-year career as a key member of the Vikings Softball team. She was one of the most prolific pitchers in the West High history posting a total of 36 wins with 24 of them coming in her junior and senior seasons when she was one of the most dominating hurlers in the STC. Sue was 13-4 (including four one-hitters, a couple of two-hitters) as junior with a 1.45 ERA allowing only 37 hits in 103 innings while striking out 71 batters. Her senior season was similar with a won-loss record of 11-3 and ERA of 1.83 while hitting close to .400. Following her junior and senior seasons, Sue was named to both the All-STC team and the All Twin-Tier first-team. She went on to play for Corning Community College where she was named to the Penn York All-Conference team in 1988. During the summers prior to high school, Sue was an MVP-caliber player in Cinderella and Princess competition. During high school summers she played for a traveling ASA softball team comprised of the top high school players in the area. She joins former Corning West teammate Barb Smith (softball-'96) and Diane Dodge (basketball-'92) in the C-PP Hall of Fame. She is currently living in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband.
