Swimming - 2004

ASHLEYE HENYAN graduated from Corning East High as perhaps the best diver in the District's history. She was a six-year member of the varsity swimming team including four years as a team captain. As a junior, she won the State Championship, setting a meet record in the process. She followed that with a second place finish as a senior. She won gold medals in the 1996 and 1997 Empire States Games in both the one and three meter events. She finished first in the one meter and second in the three meter at the USS Dive Meet in Buffalo. Ashleye was named an All American as a junior and senior. Following her senior season, she was invited to compete in the National High School Swimming and Diving Meet in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she finished eighth overall. Ashleye attended the University of Maryland with a scholarship for the swimming team.
