JAMES E. HARRIS joins the Hall of Fame in the category of Motorsports following a career that has spanned almost 25 years at various tracks around the Coming-Painted Post area. Jim, a Painted Post native, began his career in 1973 with a car handed down to him by his father who was in the business for a number of years. In 1984 Jim was named the Most Popular Driver, one of six times he would earn this award at various tracks. In 1991 and 1992 Jim enjoyed the finest years of his career by winning 41 features and 42 heat races at Dundee Racetrack. He won the Super Stock Championship and was named the Driver of the Year. Three other times he was also named Driver of the Year. In 1994 while racing at Dunn Hill Raceway in Pennsylvania, Jim was named Sportsman of the Year, one of four he would capture during his career at various tracks. Over the years, Jim would capture 87 feature wins, over 130 heat wins and two track championships. He was also involved with programs for children with special needs through AIM and Camp Good Days. Jim still lives with his family in Painted Post.
