Track - 2009
ROBERT HOLTER JR. graduated from Corning East High School in 1978 where he competed for the track & field and cross country teams all four years. As a senior, Robert was the number one runner on the cross country team and the top miler and 2-miler in track helping the Trojans win their 2nd consecutive STC Championship in both. His 2-mile time of 9:48.5 was a school record that stood for many years. He served as team captain for both squads as a senior. Following graduation, Robert attended Liberty University on an athletic scholarship where he helped the team win the Virginia State Championship in cross country in 1980 and 1981 in the NCAA D-ll & III NAIA Districts. He finished second in the Campbell University Cross Country Carnival in 1979 and then won it the next two years. Robert finished second in the NCAA district II 3000 meter steeplechase and had top ten finishes in the Nationals 5000 and 10,000 meter in 1981 after graduating from Liberty, Bob joined the Marines and he had the rank of Major when he retired after 21 years of service in 2002. Robert and his family currently live in Mount Crawford, Virginia.
