Basketball - 1999

Tom Ketchum graduated from Corning West in 1991 and was perhaps one of the finest big men ever to play for the Vikings. During his junior and senior seasons, he averaged a double, double with 14.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game as a junior and 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as a senior. As a senior Tom was named the MVP of both the Steuben County League and the Sullivan Trail Conference. He was also an all-star selection of both leagues as a junior. He was also named as the Leader's Male Player of the Year. Following his senior year Tom, who was also an outstanding member of the baseball and football teams as well as basketball, was honored as a George Bacalles Memorial Award winner by the C-PP Sports Hall of Fame. Following his graduation from Corning West, Tom attended Finger Lakes Community College where he played basketball for the two years and then earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cortland College in 1997. For the past two years, Tom has been the head coach for the girls’ basketball team at West High and also coaches the Vikings JV baseball and JV football teams.
