ROBERT LANE

Track/Cross-Country - 2002

Robert Lane graduated from Corning East High School in 1983. He was a three-year member of the East High track and cross country teams. For the track team, Robert ran the 800 and 1600. He was the Section IV champion in the 800 during his senior season and finished ninth in the state that year with a time of 1:55.4, which is still a school record. As a junior in the same distance, Robert was the runner-up in Section IV and took home a third place finish in the National Junior Olympics held in Memphis, Tennessee.

Robert continued his running efforts at the collegiate level, first competing for the Corning Community College team and then at Cortland University. He had top five finishes in such meets as the Rochester Invitational, the SUNYAC Championships and the Boston University Invitational.

After graduating from college, Robert continued running road races in places such as Hartsdale, N.Y. where he was first, winning the 5K at Riverside, CT, and the Battenkill in Vermont. He also won the 5 miler at Harrison, N.Y.

Robert is currently living in Cambridge, N.Y. with his wife Dena and children Caitlin, Brittney and Austin. He is an elementary school principal in the Argyle Central School District and coaches both the girls and boys cross country and track & field teams.
