Football - 2012

Thomas Lando graduated from Corning East High in 1967 where he played football and baseball. Although he was a starter for the baseball team for two years it was on the gridiron that Tom really shined. At his flanker position (known today as a wide receiver), Tom was one of the best in the area and was voted to the All-Twin Tiers Team as a junior and senior. Following his senior year Tom was one of two Trojans who were unanimous choices for the STL Team. The other was C-PP Hall of Famer Jerry LeBaron at running back. Tom led the Southern Tier League with 15 catches for 377 yards. Upon graduation, Tom took his talents to Ithaca College where he became a starter on the Freshman Ithaca Bomber football team as a flanker and also played quite a bit as a defensive end. On offense, he led the team in pass receptions and receiving yardage while serving as one of the team captains. The following summer, Tom was diagnosed with severe Bronchial Asthma thus putting an end to his collegiate career. Tom is currently living in Corning with his wife Hilda.
