BOB MICHAELS (Richard Martin) has been known as the "Voice" of high school sports in the Twin Tiers area for over 25 years. He began his broadcasting career doing Little League baseball games in 1969 at WCBA radio in Corning. From 1970 to 1976, Bob broadcast high school football and basketball games and Corning Community College basketball games for WCLI radio. Following four years as a freelance reporter in Florida, Bob came back home to stay. Since 1980 Bob has been broadcasting local sports to this day. He covers boys and girls lacrosse, basketball, and football. He’s also the play by play voice of the D3 Women’s Junior College National Basketball Tournament and the voice of Mansfield University baseball. He created the WELM Scholar/Athlete of the Month. Bob is the only radio broadcaster awarded the Section IV Man of the Year. He is a three time winner of the New York State Broadcasters Award for"Excellence". In 2007, Bob was inducted into the Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame. Bob and his family still live in the Corning area.
