RANDY NAYLOR

Baseball - 2006

RANDY NAYLOR graduated from Corning West High School in 1996 following a career that saw him star for the Vikings baseball team for three varsity seasons and two years on the football team. Randy, served as the team captain for the West baseball team and the football team as a senior. For the Vikings baseball team, Randy was a multi-position player who also shined on the mound. He was also one of the best hitters on the team with power from the left side of the plate. Randy was named to the All-STAC first team as a junior and the second team as senior when he was slowed by an elbow problem. Between those two seasons, he played in the Empire State Games for the western region team. Also during his high school years, Randy was a key member of some strong Corning American Legion teams as an outfielder and pitcher. Following high school, Randy went to SUNY Oneonta College where he started in leftfield as a freshman. Sadly, Randy perished in an automobile accident on the eve of his returning to college in 1997. Randy was also the last quarterback to defeat East High in the annual East-West game. He is also a former George Bacalles Memorial Award winner.
