RODNEY NORRIS graduated from Corning West in 1968 as one of the top running backs in the Twin Tiers. He led the STC in rushing his senior season when he gained 750 yards on just 113 attempts, which is 6.6 yards per carry. He was rewarded with a berth on the All-STC, First Team, marking the second year in a row he earned that honor. During that same season, he was one of the key blockers out of the backfield and helped teammate Mike Bennett reach the end zone nine times for a Viking offense that also featured Doug Allen and Bob Adams in the backfield. He was always a threat to score from anywhere on the field, be it a short gain up the middle or a run around the end for a long gainer. During his two seasons as a starting running back for West High, he was regarded as one of the toughest rushers in a league that was loaded from top to bottom with standout players. Following graduation from West High, Rodney went on to Lock Haven University.
