Basketball - 2012
Jon Onyiriuka graduated from Corning West High School in 2004 and was a key member of the Vikings basketball program being named All-League for three years. He culminated his high school career by helping West High to the STAC title before falling in the Sectional Finals. He finished his senior season averaging 21 pts and 12 rebounds per game and was named the Leader Player of the Year. He earned All-State honor as both a junior and senior. Twice he played in the Empire Games, winning a gold medal with the Western team in 2005. Following graduation from WHS, Jon took his talents to the University of Rochester where he was a four-year starter for the Yellowjackets. During his collegiate career, Jon was named to a number of all-tournament teams and was a University Athletic Association First Team selection for three years. As a senior he was named to two All-East Region First teams and was also selected a State Farm/NABC All-American. He averaged over 12 points per game and eight rebounds per game his final three years. Jon finished his career for the U of R ranking 7th in all-time scoring with 1,267 points; 5th in rebounding with 829 caroms and 5th in blocked shots with 109. Jon is currently living in Manhattan, NY working as an analyst for Goldman Sachs.
