John Polo has been on the faculty at Corning Community College for the past 28 years and he has served as much more than just a teacher. In 1991 John was honored as the recipient of the CCC Board of Trustees, "Excellence in Teaching Award". Over the years John has coached wrestling, football, cross country, men’s volleyball, bowling and also served for a number of years as a coach in youth leagues such as little league baseball, pee wee football, Cinderella Softball and pee wee wrestling. He has served as a wrestling official for the past 33 years and was inducted into the NJCAA Region III Wrestling Hall of Fame. While serving as the wrestling coach at CCC, John was twice named the Region III Coach of the Year. John is also very active in the community with a number of venues. He served on committees for a number of road races including the Wine Glass Marathon. John is also the founder of the CCC Half Marathon and is a charter member and designer of the Corning YMCA 'Challenge Cup'. John classifies himself as a dedicated role model through image, participation and setting examples for students, athletes and the communities in which he has worked or lived in. He lives in Big Flats with his wife Ginny and also have a home in Spring Hill, Florida which they built themselves.
