Mike Pieri (Tampa, FL) was the point guard on the outstanding Corning West basketball teams of the early 1970s...was the "quarterback" on a team that included C-PP Hall of Famers Pudge Brietwise, Rick Gehl, Bob Rossi and Steve Retterer and that was perhaps the best basketball team ever in the Coming-Painted Post district... was named All-STC, AU-Steuben League and All-Section V first-team during his senior season...is the all-time leader in steals and assists at Corning West as he averaged an astounding 14.2 assists and 8.4 steals per game...as a junior Mike averaged 14.8 assists per game while turning the ball over only 2.3 times per game... four times in his career he had a quadruple double with double figures in points, assists, rebounds and steals... despite dishing the ball to his high-scoring teammates, Mike managed to average 12.7 points per game during a career that saw the Vikings lose only four times in 44 games...was named MVP of the 1971 Crystal City Classic...was instrumental in the formation of the Erwin Summer Basketball League currently known as the Pos Holmes Memorial Basketball, League.
