Softball - 1997

Rick Pruden has been one of the most outstanding slo-pitch softball players in the Corning area for the past 25 years. Since the 1977 season, he has been a stalwart on 16-inch slow pitch teams where he was a teammate of long-time friend and 1995 C-PP Hall of Famer Al Fusco. Since 1980 Rick has been a member of the New York State 16-inch champions and also finished in second place three times. In 1995, the power-hitting, strong-armed outfielder was a member of both the 12-inch Class B NYS championship team and the NYS 16-inch open champions. Rick has played in 13 National Tournaments, with his teams finishing in the top 20 eleven times. His teams' best finish was a fourth-place standing in 1991 when he was named to the National Ail-American team for the second time in his career. He also was named to the All-American team in 1981 when his club finished in ninth place. Rick was also named as the New York State MVP in 1991 and was named as the Corning Umpires MVP hi 1983. Rick has played on more than 75 tournament winning teams and a dozen or more league championship clubs in both 16-inch and 12-inch competition. He joins his father Don who was inducted into the C-PP Hall of Fame hi the softball category in 1992. Rick lives in the Corning area and is still an active softball player.
