Volleyball - 1998

Kelly Pease became a charter member of the Coming-Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame with her induction as the first ever player in the sport of volleyball. She capped off a three-year varsity career at Corning East by being named to the first-team All STC team. She was also named to the all-Leader team and was awarded the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and the Truman L. Jacoby Memorial Award. Her East High team became the first Trojans squad to beat Horseheads in 22 years when they won the Sectional Class B championship. Following a very successful high school career in which she ended up as the all-time assists leader, Kelly competed in the Junior Olympic Festival in California. Between her junior and senior years, Kelly was named to the Empire State Games where she served as captain of her team during the competition. She also played for the highly successful Southern Tier Volleyball Club under Horseheads coach Patti Perone. Kelly was awarded a four-year volleyball scholarship to St. Bonaventure University to compete on the Division I level and was considered one of the steadiest players in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Last year Kelly took over as the varsity volleyball coach at Prattsburg High School.
