Lee Robbins began his association with the LPGA Corning Classic in its inaugural year in 1979 as a volunteer on the Gallery Control Committee and his involvement with this annual tournament grew leaps and bounds until he was named as the General Chairman in 1986. As his involvement with the Corning Classic grew through the years he became the president of the Corning Classic Charities Inc. and also served terms as the Treasurer and Director of the LPGA Sponsors Association. In 1992, Lee was named as the President of the Sponsors Association to succeed LPGA Hall of Famer Betsy Rawls in that position. This marked the second time someone involved with the Corning Classic was named to that prestigious position. The late George Douglas, a 1986 inductee into the C-PP Hall of Fame, was named to that post in 1983-84. Lee has also served as Past President of the Elmira-Corning All Sports Committee and served on the board of directors of the Elmira Savings Bank, the Southern Tier Economic Growth and the Chemung County Community Foundation and as Vice-President and director of Corning Enterprises. After a distinguished 30-plus year as a pilot for Corning Inc., Lee officially retired as Coming's Aviation Department Manager in 1988.
