Jim Townsend

Jim Townsend graduated from Corning East High School in 1982 after a very successful high school lacrosse career that saw him score 93 goals with 27 assists to rank 48th all time (at that time) with 120 points.

Jim took his skills to Salisbury State where he earned four letters in lacrosse and was the team’s leading scorer and MVP as a senior captain in 1986. Jim stated his lacrosse coaching career at Rochester Polytechnic Institute in 1993. He coached RPI until 2002 when he moved on to McDaniel College. He returned to RPI in 2007 and is still there. His career record at RPI is 131 and 91. He has led his team to 6 ECAC appearances and two ECAC championships. Jim has been named League Coach of the Year 3 times and Association Coach of the Year 4 times. Jim has also coached twelve All-Americans at both RPI and McDaniel.
