John Tillman is 1987 graduate of Corning West High School and made his mark as a part of the Vikings lacrosse program. He played goalie for four year at West and graduated with the best save percentage in the 21 years at the school. He was named All-League as a senior. After graduation, John attended Cornell University and played lacrosse for the Big Red. He played a number of positions in college including one season in goal for Cornell. After college, John turned to coaching and proved to be one of the finest coaches at the collegiate level. He began his coaching career at the Naval Academy as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator before taking the head coaching job at Harvard University. While at Navy, John was twice named the Assistant Coach of the Year. After spending three years at Harvard, John was named the head coach at Maryland University, one of the super powers of collegiate lacrosse. His crowning glory to date is taking the Terrapins to the NCAA Championship game in 2011 game where his team lost a 9-7 heartbreaker to Virginia. He remains at Maryland where he is still in pursuit of the National Championship.
