Marge Tremaine was one of the most successful coaches ever to take the helm at Corning West High School. During her 12year tenure, Marge's basketball teams were STC and Section IV champions three times and Regional Champions twice, capping that run with an undefeated season and the Class B New York State Championship in 1995. Her team that year featured four future Division I players. Marge was named the New York State Class B Coach of the Year following that season. She only coached Softball for a couple of years but West did win the STC Championship in 1996 and they were ranked second in the state in 1996 and 1997. She also served as the junior varsity volleyball coach for nine years and the J.V. softball coach for ten years before stepping up to the varsity. No stranger to success on the playing field, Marge capped a brilliant high school career at Horseheads by being named the Female Athlete of the Year in 1978 before going on to star at Corning Community College. She played volleyball, basketball and softball at both Horseheads and CCC. Marge is also a member of the Horseheads High School Hall of Fame, the Elmira Sports Hall of Fame and the Horseheads, Cinderella Softball Hall of Fame. She currently resides in Horseheads.
