Bowling - 1998

Wilford Toby has been bowling in the Corning Bowling Association since the 1958-59 season when he averaged over 175, which at that time was in the top echelon of bowling averages in the association. He boosted that average into the 180s the very next year and by the 1966-67 season he had reached into the 190 level with a 194 mark. For the next 30 years, Wil stayed into the high 180s and 190s as one of the top bowlers in the association. His best ever season average came during the 1995-96 season when he finished the campaign with a 213 average in the Friday Mixed League at Crystal Lanes. Wilfred has had numerous series in the 700s but his crowning glory was an 826 series last season in Mansfield, Pa. when he was mentioned in Bowling Magazine for being one of the oldest bowlers in the American Bowling Congress to roll an 800 series. But Wil is more than just a bowler. He has given back as much to the sport of bowling as he has taken out of it. He served on the Board of Directors for the Corning Bowling Council for close to 20 years including a term as President. He currently holds the status as a Life Member. He is still active in bowling having finished last season with a 209 average.
