MATTHEW VALLONE

Lacrosse - 2009

MATTHEW VALLONE graduated from Corning East High School in 1997. As a goalie for the lacrosse team, Matthew led the Trojans to the state title game as a junior and senior. He played 50 games in goal for East and recorded 553 saves (70%) which is fourth on the all-time list. He was named a High School Academic All-American as a senior. He also played in the Empire State Games in 1996 and was a two-time All-League member as a junior and senior. Matthew took his lacrosse talents to Penn State University where he played goalie for the Nittany Lions. He was the starting goalie as a junior and senior and was named the team’s MVP both seasons. As a senior, Matthew was named Academic All-American and was selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game. Following graduation from Penn State, Matthew migrated to the west coast and played goalie for the Los Angeles Riptide in the Major League Lacrosse. In 2007 he was the starting goalie for the San Francisco Dragons and was named to the League’s All-Star game. He currently lives in San Francisco, California.
