Bill Walker has coached high school and college football in the Twin Tiers area for close to 30 years. He began his local coaching career as an assistant to Coming-Painted Post Hall of Famer Arnie Northrop at Corning West in 1969. Five years later in 1974, BUI took over as the varsity head coach at Corning East, a post he would hold for the next nine years. During his tenure at East, Bill led the Trojans to an undefeated season and a championship in the tough Sullivan Trail Conference. When he wasn't coaching football at East, Bill served as the junior varsity and freshman boys’ basketball coach and also worked as an assistant coach for the Trojans wrestling teams. Following the 1982 season, Bill left East and went to Mansfield University as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. During his tenure at Mansfield, two of his quarterbacks earned All-American honors and his offenses were nationally ranked in passing yardage. Bill also served as the building athletic manager at Corning East for six years. Bill and his wife currently live in Lindley.
