JERRY WINNIE (deceased) was one of the most prolific scorers in the old City League in the late 1940s and early 50s matching numbers with such Hall of Famers as Bob Shaddock, Chuck Kozey, Bill Fancher, Bill McCarty and John Driggins... During the 1948-49 season he set a league record when he scored 48 points for Tillmans Drug Store against Post Diner and followed that with a 40-point performance versus the Addison Merchants... Finished that 48-49 season leading the league with 18 points a game as his team finished second in the regular season and won the play-offs... After playing for the Painted Post High Junior Varsity in 1943, Jerry never played varsity ball due to military service.
