Track/Cross-Country - 2000

Tim Wray graduated from Corning East in 1978. He was a member of the Trojans track team for four years on the varsity, competing in the discus, shot put and high jump. At one time, Tim held or set records for all three of those events. He was co-captain of the strong 1978 East team that captured the Section 5 Championship over a number of heavily favored schools from the Rochester area. It was during this meet that Tim hurled the discus 163 feet, which at the time was one of the greatest feats in Coming East track history. However he finished second in the sectionals with that heave behind eventual state champion Kevin Akins who tossed it 181 feet. Tim did qualify for the state meet as a senior where he finished ninth in the discus. While at East, he won numerous invitational and county titles including MVP at the Wellsville Invitational in 1978. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, Tim attended Mansfield University where he lettered for three years as a member of the track team competing in the discus, shot put and javelin. He was named All-PS AC in the discus in 1984. Since he only had three years of eligibility at Mansfield, he served as an assistant track coach as a senior. He currently resides in Rochester, N.Y. with his wife Kim.
